A karys is a person who consistently distinguishes agat from hamarten accurately and communicates that distinction beyond themselves despite meaningful resistance or pressure.

Why a separate term is needed
Karys names a person-level pattern that ordinary roles do not isolate: repeatedly distinguishing agat from hamarten accurately and communicating that distinction with courage despite meaningful resistance.
The inaccuracy it prevents
Preacher, leader, activist, and prophet each import a role, source, authority, or field that accurate and courageous moral communication does not necessarily entail.

- Prophet
- Both can describe a person who communicates morally significant truth publicly. Prophet often implies revelation, supernatural authorization, or sacred office; karys implies none of them and remains fully correctable.
- Preacher
- A religious or rhetorical role; a karys is defined by a sustained pattern of accurate moral communication under meaningful resistance.
- Activist
- Acts for social or political change; a karys is defined specifically by the practice of karyzing and remains correctable in every proclamation.

A karys and a prophet may both communicate morally significant truth publicly. Unlike prophet, karys contains no necessary claim of supernatural revelation, prediction, infallibility, appointment, sacred office, institutional authorization, or authority over others.
The description depends on a sustained pattern, but accuracy remains localizable: a person can communicate one part accurately and another badly.
