Why this word exists
The distinction ordinary language loses.
Why a separate term is needed
Ordinary success can describe a result, a reputation, or an advantage. Makarious describes a stable pattern joining enteliness, recognition of its achievement, and growing effectiveness.
The inaccuracy it prevents
Calling a life successful can reward visible outcomes without sound direction, or deny genuine achievement when external conditions prevent the desired outcome.

The distinction it protects
